National Church FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Our church offers age-appropriate ministries designed to help children and students grow spiritually, socially, and emotionally. For more information about our Young Folks and Friends Union, click here. From NextGen to our Young Adults Auxiliary, we create safe and engaging environments for young people to encounter God and discover their purpose.
We believe young adults are world-changers. Our Young Adults Auxiliary (YAA) provides small groups, service projects, leadership development, worship nights, financial literacy workshops, and social gatherings that build community and deepen discipleship. For more information, click here.
Small groups are being organized through our CARES ministry (click here for more information on CARES), but throughout the year, small groups and discipleship initiatives form around midweek Bible study, prayer, daily home readings, 7 Days Fast Lessons (to begin the new year), mentorship, interests, 40 Days of Lent Fast Lessons, and life stages. Many of our churches host New Members Orientation or Discipleship Pathway courses that can introduce you to a deacon or a small group for growth. For more information on the next National Small Group campaign, click here to subscribe to our weekly newsletter.
Parents may register their children for weekly services at a location near you. For location information, click here. Although each church has autonomy in how they structure their NextGen ministries, most offer development tools through Sunday School literature, vacation Bible school literature, and ministry tracks for youth who want to serve. Visit our YFFU page or speak with a YFFU coordinator at your local church for details.
We welcome volunteers in a wide range of ministries—worship, media, outreach, prayer, children, hospitality, administration, and more. Although there is usually a national call for volunteers prior to our General Assembly, each local church and diocese provides volunteer opportunities and training to ensure excellence and safety. Click here to subscribe to our Weekly Newsletter for more information on national volunteer opportunities.
Thriving churches encourage studying the Word of God, taking classes at Tate University, prayer, small groups, mentorship, serving opportunities, conventions, assemblies, daily home readings, and leadership development programs. We provide Bible school literature and online resources to help every member grow.
Yes. Ministry opportunities vary based on location, but all new believers are encouraged to contact their local pastor to determine the right first step and basics of the Christian faith. Additionally, the CARES ministry offers the Alpha Course for anyone trying to figure out what faith is all about.
No. It has come to our attention that individuals—some posing as church representatives—are attempting to deceive our senior members into giving money, sharing personal information, or providing access to their finances. Let it be clearly known: these actions are dangerous, unlawful, and absolutely not connected to our church in any way.
Please read this carefully and protect yourself:
A. The Church Will NEVER:
· Ask you to send money through GoFundMe, social media, or gift cards.
· Contact you privately to request personal bank information.
· Send secret or urgent messages asking for financial help in order to protect people in the church.
If anyone claims to be calling “on behalf of the church” and asks for money, it is a scam.
B. If You Receive a Suspicious Call, Text, or Message:
· Do NOT respond.
· Do NOT send any money.
· Do NOT give any personal information.
· Hang up immediately.
· Notify headquarters or a trusted family member.
C. What You SHOULD Do:
If someone contacts you asking for money or personal information using the name of our church, a pastor, a bishop, or any leader:
· Report it to the church headquarters or branch office immediately.
· Save the message, phone number, or email so we can investigate.
· Tell other seniors so no one else falls victim.
D. To Those Targeting Our Seniors:
Let it be known:
We see you.
We are documenting every attempt.
And we will pursue every legal and criminal avenue available to ensure our seniors stay safe.
Our seniors are not alone. They are protected, valued, and watched over by their families, their pastors, and this entire church.
