Diocese of Georgia

“LABORING TOGETHER IS PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT”

The Diocese of Georgia, under the resounding leadership of Chief Helper, Bishop Dr. M. J. Thomas, the Presiding State Bishop, was organized and merged from three dioceses to one in June 2020 and is now home to 25 local churches, throughout the state. The House of God Church has been rooted into the fiber of Georgia since 1911 when our Founder and Chief Overseer, Mother Mary Magdalene Tate started a band in Waycross. The church prospered and by 1917 she had ordained State Bishops and churches in Quitman and Willacoochee.

The combined diocese headquarters complex was renovated and established in Macon by Bishop M. J. Thomas in 2020, is located in the middle of the state. Other church locations span from historic Atlanta to the north, coastal Brunswick to the east, Cairo, “Georgia’s Hospitality City” to the south, and to the west, Plains, the birthplace and home of the 39th US President, Jimmy Carter. Indeed, “Laboring Together,” building on a solid foundation, we will obtain the “Progressive Movement” expected of the servants of God.
